It was lovely to meet you at Wadebridge School last Friday and realise that you have probably been bombarded with many requests since then asking for you to visit Devon! We spoke briefly about the possibility of you visiting Exmouth Community College next year and hope we may be able to persuade you!

As you are no doubt aware 2008 celebrates the National Year of Reading and we are trying to arrange some exciting events.

Perhaps I could tell you a little about our school. Exmouth Community College is the largest secondary school in Great Britain and has two well used libraries. We constantly try to promote books and reading and have been fortunate to host a number of author visits.

We are sure that if we were lucky enough to have a visit from you it would be met with much excitement amongst the students as both “32C That’s Me” and “Pride and Penalties” are very popular and constantly reserved titles.

We would be happy to go along with any format you were happy with from small workshops, question and answer sessions to whole year assemblies. We could liaise with the public library service, local media and of course have as many of your titles available as possible for the students to purchase, including, hopefully “It’s a 50/50 Thing”. The students would be well prepared having attended workshops prior to the event.
Your fees and travel expenses would be met together with overnight accommodation if necessary.

Ideally a visit from you during Children’s Book Week 2008 (that’s the week beginning Mon 6th Oct 08) would be fantastic but we appreciate you must be in demand and would be happy to fit in with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours hopefully,

Lou Burrows (Librarian)
